Position Profile: School Principal
Directly Reports To: School Directors
Royal Academy child care programs are committed to the BC Early Learning Framework, Reggio Inspired and Montessori method focusing on the areas of Well-being and Belonging; Exploration and Creativity; Languages and Literacies; Social Responsibility and Diversity.
The purpose of the Principal is to act as the educational leader and general administrator of the school to which he/she has been assigned. The Principal’s role is to inspire Teachers to become better Teachers and to facilitate the implementation of Royal Academy teaching methods and philosophy.

Required Education, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:
● Valid ECE License for a minimum of 5 years.
● Minimum of 5 years experience and Supervisory experience
● Familiar with current BC Licensing Regulations
● Knowledge of best practices in educational leadership
● Management experience for a minimum of 5 years
● Excellent communication (written & verbal) and organizational skills
● Computer Proficiency and knowledge of MS Office (Word & Excel)
● Ability to prioritize and to exercise time management

Responsibilities:
● Demonstrated ability to provide adaptive leadership
● Clear understanding and ability to provide situational leadership
● Demonstrated ability to act as the team leader in the school and the community
● Ensure that our curriculum, policies, procedures and classroom are carried out
● Demonstrated ability to establish rapport with children and act as a role model to children and parents within the community
● Demonstrated ability for the professional growth and evaluation of ECE staff
● Provide guidance and information to all staff at Royal Academy
● Demonstrated ability to create innovative solutions to a wide range of problems
● Maintain positive relationships with Parents, Children, Staff and Management team
● Ability to deal effectively with a broad range of Children Service Agencies, such as PACE program, BC Centre for Ability
● Ability to plan, implement, reflect on and monitor multiple processes within the school
● Demonstrated ability to present and promote change at the school
● Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality relative to school operations
● Present a positive and professional approach
● Oversees and coordinates the school’s daily operation and administration
● Manages and actively participates in school special event such as school tours and community events
● Manages school inquiries, registration, enrolment and staff training
This position involves the day-to-day supervision of ECE teachers in the school as well as direct supervision of all support staff within the school.
Other job duties include, but are not limited to:
Without restricting the generality of the purpose above, the Principal shall perform such duties and responsibilities as may be assigned including but not restricted to the following:
● Implementing and monitoring school policies and safety protocols
● Interview, hire, and train new staff members
● Setting performance objectives for students and teachers
● Support teachers and staff and promote their professional development
● Set up quality education program following Childcare Licensing Requirements
● Ongoing training and provide support with the directors
● Research new resources and techniques to improve teaching
● Organize school events
● Overviewing administrative tasks (e.g. updating employee records)
● Working with the VSB and local healthcare professional
● Analyzing curricula, resources, student results, and teacher performances, and ensuring that they align with set goals
● Gathering information from educators, support staff, students, and parent
● Providing workshops and instructional materials to improve lesson delivery and admin processes
● Developing new and more effective curricula, learning outcomes, and teaching methods
● Visiting classrooms to observe lessons and provide feedback
● Counselling educators on how to cope with exceptionally talented students as well as those who require extra attention
● Develop recommendations for enhancements or changes

We are looking for passionate, creative and experienced educators to join our team. Be a part of creating the culture, community and foundation of our newly opened centre. We are looking for educators for our Infant and Toddler and our 3-5 year old programs.

Job Description:
As a part of a diverse teaching team you will be co-responsible for developing and maintaining a quality childcare program inspired by Reggio Emilia philosophies. This includes program planning and delivery, communication with families and ensuring the safety and well-being of the children in the program.

Qualifications:
● Holds a current ECE certificate in BC
● Montessori training is an asset
● SN/IT certification preferred
● Valid First Aid & CPR Certificate
● Criminal Record Check

Required Experience:
● Minimum three years of experience in a team lead/supervisory position, leading multiple staff and volunteer teams in child care settings
● Strong knowledge and experience of the BC Early Learning Framework, Reggio Emilia approach and Montessori method
● Ability to make sound judgments and decisions; effective prioritizing and problem solving skills

● Attend to children’s physical needs for diapering, toileting, eating and sleeping
● Use observations to expand play and plan activities that recognize individual differences

Applications are now being accepted for a Child Development Instructor in Royal.  The person hired will help the staff carry out and maintain an active and well organized Out of School Care and to help with the organization and planning of the day to day activities.

Duties and Responsibilities
Instruct, interact and build relationships with school aged children on a daily basis; be clear and concise when talking and giving directions to children, staff and volunteers
Greet parents at the beginning and end of the day and discuss information in newsletters and other written notices with families
Follow licensing and center protocol for emergency situations and out-trips procedures
Report suspected child abuse, endangerment and neglect to Supervisor
Ensure children are signed in and that families sign out children daily; ensure clothing is appropriate for planned activity
Monitor children in indoor and outdoor activities
Ensure the physical and emotional program environment is safe for children
Other related duties as assigned and may vary according to facility

Required Qualifications
Up to six month’s previous experience working or volunteering with children or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Must be 19yrs+ to meet licensing requirements
Minimum of 20 hours of Child Development courses
Valid First Aid and CPR
Successful candidates will be required to complete a Criminal Record Check

Desirable Qualifications
Special needs and/or behavior management training
Class 5 driver’s license

We are looking for a full time and a part time cook with a passion to prepare and nutritional snacks and meals for children between the ages of 1-5 years old.
Hours of Work / Remuneration
Monday to Friday 9:00am to 4:00pm (full time) and 10:00am to 2:30pm (part time)
Salary: based on experience
Required Responsibilities:
Excellent nutrition for the children’s workday.
Meet the daily nutritional needs of children (based on Canada’s Food Guide)
Be able to adapt meals for children and stuff with food restrictions or allergies
Be responsible for an organized, clean and safe kitchen environment.
Create a lifelong habit of preferring a healthy nutritional diet.
Prepare a morning and afternoon snack and lunch daily for our children and staff.
Requirements:
Food safe certification leave 1.
Experience cooking for large groups and children.
Vehicle is a plus.
